Serious Inquiries Only
Serious Inquiries Only was the Exhibition Title for my 2020 Senior Thesis work accompanied by the work of artists // designers: Joseph DiMario, Amber Helsen, Natalie Kennedy, Skyler Koch, and Jamie Tullis.
The layout design was inspired by Craigslist.org webpages. Craigslist.org is "an American classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums." (Wikipedia.com, Craigslist, 2020) The phrase "Serious Inquiries Only" is commonly expressed on the site in the acronym "SIO",used to express a Seller is not interested in low-ball offers, people looking to make a friend, or your casual internet-troll. Our group decided to adopt the phrase for our exhibit title to express our concern with Speculative Work, and the artists' angst toward the culture of "DM'ing to Buy".
The illustration on the front of the card is a simplification of a graphic from Natalie Kennedy's thesis work. The postcards were sent to family, friends, and people of interest who we wanted to invite to our show. The monitor design was displayed in the lobby of the Art Academy of Cincinnati for one week.
